veer is a story of a brave pindari soldier named as veer(salman khan).set in the the early 19th century, pindari army led by veer's father prithvi singh(mithun chakraborthy), aided the raja of madavgarh(jackie shroff) in fighting his rivals, for a piece of land he promised them in return.but the raja turns out to be a crook, betrays the pindaris and joins hands with the britisher's.
years later, prithvi sends his sons veer and punya(sohail khan) to london to become familiar with the british game plan for their country.
but as it happens in dozens of bollywood movies veer falls in love with the princess of madavgarh(zarine khan).the latter is although unware of veers identity as a pindari.but the truth befronts her on the occassion of a party thrown to welcome jackie shroff.what follows is a series of blood splaterred slaughter scenes where veer kills zarine's both brothers(aryan vaid and pururaj) inspite of a sword being slammed into his back.the interval occurs at a scene where our hero veer promises yashodra that he would definately arrive madavgarh one day.
post interval, the story back to india, zarine takes her oath as the princess of madavgarh promising that an enemy of madavgarh is her enemy too.on the other hand veer makes his dadda aware of his newly found love and leaves to madavgarh disguised as farmers on search of weapons along with his brother.he lands up in the raja's haveli after saving a life of his firangi guest.the raja on the other hand has decided to hold a "swayamvar" for his daughter whereby the gonnabe vars have to fight a huge monster like man to win over the princess.as expected our hero decides to take over the challenge.but but..but
our hero's identity gets disclosed during the course of the fight owing to zarine.although veer wins the fight twisting his opponents head 360 degrees,he is as you would think to be in grave danger.but our hero has all d madavgarh covered by his pindari brothers after misleadng the british troops of their way.veer strangely decides not to slaughter the enemies but decides to let them go by,only to be betrayed by them after recieving a gunshot.what follows is expected firangis getting slaughtered here, there, everywhere.veer finallyyyyy dies but promises to return back.ooooops he does come back as dadda's grandchild.
veer
displays fantastic locations, soulful songs but the director tries to pack as much as all the possible masalas together in 1 film only creating a overdose.some scenes are unneccessary especially d one in which salman with his bare hands takes out his opponents intestine.songs are too many in d movie and at wrong places.
veer could have been a classic film if the script writer would have wanted the same.running at over 2 hours and 45 min veer is too long and over the top.
